November Charters

November 20, 2013
Still catching up on reports and received a few pictures from another great group of guys that I thought I would share, thanks Brian.

Although the water temperature continues to dip from the summer highs, the whitebait, AKA snook and redfish cookies, are still hanging out off the beaches in shallow water, making them easily nettable to start the days charters.

The snook bite continues to be great except for 1 trip, which worked out as we found some very nice redfish to make up for it on that one.

The redfish bite has picked up considerably and we’ve caught some beauties along with a few small fishover the last couple of weeks.

I also had my first evening charter last week, where we experienced a fantastic hour of fishing as we watched an exquisite sunset and the fish fired up as the dark enveloped us. I have also started working with one of the best offshore charters in the area. We have 2 trips under our belt now predominantly fishing for grouper and the bite has been great. Catching lots of red and gag grouper up to 36”, along with a few scamps, mangrove and lane snappers, yellowtail, some nice porgies, and 1 keeper cobia. The fishing just seems to get better and better as I spend more of my time on the water!

October Charters

November 20, 2013
I can’t believe how long it’s been since I posted any reports!

The lack of reports doesn’t mean no fishing or catching though.

I had a few charters over the last month or so with 4 customers on board catching a bunch of fish making it difficult to get any pictures. My preferred bait of scaled sardines has been readily available making it that much easier to catch a ton of fish.

The snook bite has been fantastic. Pretty much every charter has seen double digit catches of snook, with lots ...

09-10-13 Ft Myers Snook Slaying

September 11, 2013
Got a chance to fish Estero Bay in Fort Myers Florida with a good buddy yesterday and the agenda, besides the obvious of a great day on the water, was to get a snook for the table. Conditions were prime first thing with flat calm waters. We loaded the livewell with snook candy, AKA scaled sardines, and headed to the first spot with an already low outgoing tide. Our baits got hammered immediately and I landed a nice big spotted sea trout to get things started. That was about the only non snook...

09-05-13 No School Fishing Trip

September 9, 2013
What an awesome day we had yesterday. With no school for the kids, I took my 9 year old and 3 of his friends out for a day of fishing. We had a blast, with all of the kids on their best behavior!

The amazing day started right away with my favorite pod of dolphins, all together at 6-8 animals, charging and surfing in to the wake of the boat. The same large one from Sunday jumped and splashed us time and again to the kids and my delight before we left them for the next adventure. Bait was easy ...

09-01-13 Estero Bay Family Snook Fishing

September 4, 2013
You know your kid is hooked on fishing when not only do they know when opening day of snook season is, but they also have the spot he wants to fish for them. So we joined the throngs heading out for the opening day of snook season and license free day, where you didn’t need a fishing license to fish. The day started awesome with a big pod of dolphins playing and splashing in the channel as we left the marina. The entire pod of 6-8 surfed into the wake of the boat and played, with the bigges...

08-30-13 Fort Myers Family Fishing Charter

September 3, 2013
Saturday’s charter was scheduled at the last minute when I got a call from a dad visiting from Jacksonville with his family that included 3 boys. I was able to accommodate them and we met at the Carl Johnson Boat Ramp at Lover’s Key just before 8 am for our 4 hour fishing excursion on Estero Bay. We started off running to a nearby beach where a couple throws of the 8’ castnet loaded the livewell with nice bait. On our way to the first fishing spot we came across one of my favorite pairs...

August 2013 Fort Myers Fishing Charter

August 12, 2013
In spite of the dark water in the area from all of the fresh water releases the fishing continues to be excellent.

I have another couple of pictures with a bad setting, but the last photos are fixed.

We found quite a few redfish this week, and the snook have been feeding actively all day long.

08-07-13 Last Day of Summer Vacation

August 12, 2013
Unfortunately a setting got changed on the camera so the few pictures even showable, don’t convey the great day we had. With it being the last day before the start of 4th grade, the 2 of us spent it together on the water. And we couldn’t have asked for a much better day. It started with calm water and the second throw of the castnet so full of nice bait that I had trouble lifting it into the boat. The tide just started flooding in as we anchored at the first spot, and the fish were hungry...

07-29-13 Teammates Fishing Trip

August 1, 2013
We had big fun on the water yesterday with a teammate of my young son, who is an avid fisherman, from the most recent baseball season. After filling the livewell with scaled sardines and small herrings, we immediately casted them out and caught a few nice sized Spanish mackerel.

Next, we cruised the beaches all the way to Sanibel looking for some activity. We finally found some diving birds and set up to drift through the activity. Eventually we got a few bites from some more mackerel and the...

07-26-13 Huge Snook Charter

July 26, 2013
The flash of lightning and sound of thunder woke me up early again for the next highly anticipated fishing trip. A quick check of the radar showed just a passing shower, so I loaded up and hit the water under a fairly dark sky. The day’s trip was with a returning father and son team on their yearly summer vacation. Last year’s trip was pretty good with a nice redfish topping that day, giving high expectations for a return trip.

The guys had no fear of the weather so we headed to one of th...
