Even though we fish extensively in the salt water, both inshore and offshore, my boy is hooked on freshwater bass fishing also. So we spent a good bit of time over the last week finding and fishing some accessible water around the neighborhood.
Results have been varied, but no skunkings yet, even if it’s just a Mayan Cichlid or Oscar or 2. Last trip was the best with the 2 of us landing 10 bass or so up to 2 pounds or so.
We also got a few of his buddies out for a nearshore trip on the big boat, where the fishing was fantastic.
The kids were able to boat 8 keeper red grouper, along with a ton of shorts, some very nice Lane Snapper, and a mess of grunts.
The kids, and myself were all very proud that they were able to gather dinner for their families. It was a great way to end the summer break and prepare for the upcoming school year.
