We had an excellent day last week with a father and son team, fishing off of the Pro-Staff boat out of Fish Tale Marina on Ft. Myers Beach. The inshore trip started mid-morning under overcast skies with a light breeze making it very comfortable fishing conditions. The tide was at its peak high as we started to fish with live shrimp under popping corks in one of my favorite areas on the north end of Estero Bay. There was no bite to start, but as soon as the water started to move it was fish on. The first fish was the best, caught by the son of the father and son team from Kentucky, a nice healthy redfish just under 27”. That started a pretty good bite with us catching several more redfish, although all under the minimum slot limit of 18”, several hard fighting snook, lots of mangrove snapper with a few big enough to add to the box for dinner, and 1 decent sheepshead. The 4 hour trip went by all too fast, but the timing was excellent as we had to speed back to the marina to beat the fast approaching rain storms to end another great day in Estero Bay.
